QuickHitter 01 : SSMS 2012 Templates in a new place

In an effort to post more often, I’m going to try and a new series of posts that take less than 15 minutes to bang out and may help someone else (or me, when I forget in a few days). No images included, usually less than 2 paragraphs, and other little things that can help me procrastinate posting. This introductory paragraph won’t count against that limit of 2 paragraphs for this first one and I may refine this as I go.

I was reading through “The Red Gate Guide to SQL Server Team-based Development” an excellent book  and saw the whole templates thing that I have briefly toyed with from time to time. Props to Red Gate Software for providing great resources like this for the community.

Anyway, the path to the templates appears to have changed from the reference in the book for 2012:
C:\Users\<UserName>\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Microsoft SQL Server\100\Tools\Shell\Templates\Sql\

For 2012:
C:\Users\<UserName>\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\SQL Server Management Studio\11.0\Templates\Sql\
